| Great color printer!!! | |||
| Impressively fast for business applications. Better-looking graphics and text than most ink jet printers. Duplexer option. It's certainly the fastest by far in this price class | |||
| Photo quality is not that great. | |||
| If you're in the market for a fast, affordable ink jet and won't be printing many photos, the K550 is a good choice.

| good enough | |||
| low TCO and large seperate vivera ink tanks. i like the solidly built paper trays. the K550 has 4 ink tanks, Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow. There are two capacities offered for sale on all of the tanks. The basic design is like that of any inkjet - except that the printhead is about 1 inch long - allowing documents to print faster. In terms of speed, this printer delivers somewhat close to the advertised 37 ppm. The printer really excels at printing draft color quickly. There was almost no speed difference whether the document printed in color or in just black and white.

| a bit large and heavy and no borderless photo prints | |||
| Photo printing is acceptable, not fast, nor borderless. Initial setup and callibration uses about 8 sheets of paper and takes 10 minutes. i found this printer just right. i save on the colour also. this is the right printer for one and all. | |||

| Didnt work | |||
| I bought my printer in december 23 (Brazil) waiting for a fast and economic printer. The papers jam all time and today (january 04) the printer fail in black. I tried to clean the printer heads but did not work. I am going now to return the printer and get back my money.

| Outstanding HP K550 | |||
| Very fast. Best print quality is comparable to a colour laser with good colour balance, but not at its top speed. Lower cost per page than a colour laser and much less costly to buy. Excellent as an office all rounder, including printing short run colour leaflets. The utility software seems excellent so far. | |||
| The size of the roughly 1.3cm non-printing border at the bottom of a page slightly limits its usefulness for colour leaflets and the like, especially for duplex printing. I would much prefer to have the same 0.5cm non-printing area all round. However, it is possible to work around this by doing double sided in two passes with different page set ups in the document.
As HP seem to be positioning this machine as a better option than a laser, they should publish the number of pages printed by the cartridges and print heads. The printer seems pretty frugal. It comes with HP's small capacity cartridges and after printing 300 double sided colour A4 leaflets the lowest cartridge is cyan, down to about 20% full. I think this is something HP should be proud of. There doesn't seem to be any reason to prevent people from evaluating the printer on cost per page, as is usual for lasers. The lack of the figures suggests that HP's "30% less per page than a colour laser" claim relies too much on the lower price of the hardware and that the consummables cost could be high, which doesn't seem to be true so far. |

| Overall I think this printer is remarkable value for money and a pleasure to use. I had a choice of buying an HP2550 colour laser for about £400 or spending about £300 at a print shop for the current job. In the end I've spent about £150 including the ink to produce the first 300 double sided prints. The printer has paid for itself on the first job and the results are sitting on my desk and look terrific. | |||
