| My previous and only printer was an Epson Stylus color 440.Which arrived as part of a bundle with my first PC 7 years ago and although it was advertised as a quiet printer, it clunked and cranked its laborious way through prints. Photos seemed to take forever, I had to get it replaced during the guarantee period but it was never a good printer. And it was always noisy. | |||

| Rolls Royce printer | |||
| Although I have only had this printer a few days, I am really pleased with it. It prints borderless A4 photos brilliantly and compared to my old Epsom it whispers along at high speed just like a Rolls Royce. It makes printing a pleasure. Text is also very crisp and sharp, no sluring above or below the characters (being a retired typesetter in the print trade, I am naturally critical). I bought it on the net from HelpdeskIT.com, they seemed to be the only people on the net with it in stock and it was with me in less than 24 hours for an all in price of £111 compared to the £150 that PC World wanted. | |||
| The only weaknesses that I can see so far is the price of the replacement cartridges but that will depend on how long they last and how economical it is having separate ink tanks. One of the problems with the Epson was that if I didn't use it for any length of time the cartridges tended to dry out and a lot of head cleaning was involved. If the printhead on this machine ever needs replacing it will be a doddle.
I think it was a bit mean of Canon not to include a USB cable for PC connection. |
|||
| The setting up was quick and easy and I started printing photos straightaway from memory cards before even connecting to the PC.
I found resizing and cropping very easy. and the machine as a whole is very user friendly. Well done Canon. |
