Which similar products have you used? I bought this camcorder to replace my Panasonic NV-GS 120 which has been a remarkable video recorder.

Title of review Wonderful Camcorder
What are the strengths? IMAGE QUALITY above all is excellent, I felt a bit stupid just after unpacking it as my previous model was superb, but I have recently got a wide screen tv and find it annoying watching the old square pictures on the wider format, when looking at my new camera I realised that my old one actually had the facility to record in widescreen too!!, initially I thought I had wasted my money, however I have filmed the same scenes on both now and the new model is SO MUCH BETTER, the functionality is easier too with the jog button making it easy to change things while filming, the old one had many buttons inside the pull out screen area which meant turning the camera round to look at what I was pressing. apart from that everything is very similar.
What are the weaknesses? None really, it is simple to use, a good size etc, the only observation I have made is that my older model was possibly slightly better constructed but the build quality of this one is very good indeed, the only feature I will miss is that the viewfinder is only adjustable horizontally (my previous one angled upwards also which meant I could look down into it when filming sometimes) as most other camcorders are similar in this respect these days it should not be considered as an important negative remark.
Summary This is a brilliant camcorder, I cannot recommend it highly enough, the 3 CCD system produces wonderful sharp and vibrant images, my father has a Sony model from the current range which is slightly more compact and a similar price but the quality of image in my opinion is totally incomparable, his suffers from a lot of pixelating where there are a lot of horizonal lines and images appear to be floating strangely (on his Sony camcorder pictures on the wall in a room look like they are shaking / moving around as the camera pans around, this camera shows everything exactly as it should look and the tones / colours are very correct)

I think you would have to spend at least double the money to get any better than this, it's an absolute bargain at somewhere a little over £300.00.

It is good to see that although the printed spec is almost identical to my three year old model that they have actually managed to visibly improve the image quality significantly and it has cost about two hundred pounds less than my previous model too!
