| Rating |  1 / 5 | | Comment | I ordered Canon SD1100 with 2 days shipping then when I was called to confirm the order, they offered me to add a 3 years warranty with which the 2 day shipping came free.
But somehow they created another one instead of changing the previous one so ;
I was told I ordered both of them on web (I dont see the second order in my account info )
For the second order I was charged a week later.
When I tried to send the item back they wanted restocking fee. After I wrote e-mail I called them again and this time i was not asked for a restocking fee but I had to pay for the shipping cost which was 8 usd..
I got my refund a month later but 20 USD is missing.
Butterflyphoto adventure caused me 28 USD..
Dont deal with them because no matter what they do is YOUR FAULT.

After a few days, I received a phone call from one of their salesmen that said if I didn't purchase something else, I wouldn't get my camera for at least a week. He wanted me to buy a camera bag and another camera item specifically made for the camera I ordered. I was not interested and told him so. Then I received an E-mail from Butterfly Photo, called: DOD Marketing, Inc. that stated my item had been shipped. I checked the FED Ex tracking number and it was suppose to arrive within days like it was advertised. Not the longer delay the salemen stated to me.
The camera never arrived. I checked the Fed Ex tracking number again and saw it said delivered? Then it changed to say it was being returned? I called Butterfly photo and the Customer Service gal said she could see it was being returned and ignored me when I told her it was never delivered. She said she wouldn't refund my credit card purchase until it arrived. It did but I didn't get a refund. This went on for weeks until they finally refunded part of my order amount. They kept some of it saying it was a restocking fee.
How can anyone be charged a restocking fee on an item they never had? I called Butterfly which stated it was open until 7:00 PM but got no answer. I tried again the next day and see that was changed to 4:00 PM.
I E-mailed them and they said they would not refund my money unless I purchased the same camera again.
Clearly, this is a company that preys on good people. They are not reasonable and have not tried to fix what they broke.
I called Fed Ex and asked them why didn't they deliver my package. I also asked them to tell me my address and why there is no signature for my tracking number? A signature is required for a two day delivery. They confessed that they didn't have my full address and they couldn't deliver it. They continually appoligised and told me Butterfly Photo was contacted after they found out they couldn't deliver my package. Butterfly photo didn't respond to Fed Ex for the five days. That is why they returned it to Butterfly Photo.
Butterfly Photo has my correct address. Don't ever let a vendor tell you otherwise after you make a credit card order. If they don't have your correct address, they will not process the order.
Butterfly Photo had my correct shipping address but wouldn't give it to Fed Ex and they charged me for it.
Stay away from this dishonest company. Beware of Internet theives! |

Before i ordered, I went to ritzcamera and asked them to price match Butterfly Photo. They did with no questions asked. (Since they did the price match I could only assume that they must be a real computer or a place like Ritz camera wouldn't of done it.
I was looking at the Sony A350k Camera with 18 - 70 lens. Everyone else sold it for 899.99 + Shipping, Butterfly had it for 788.00 with free shipping. The is a big difference and made me feel like maybe its a scam. I put my fears aside and ordered the camera and i got a filter kit (witch the price was a little on the high side but still way less then any other place) Both ordered shipped out FedEx today. I haven't received them yet, but I did call and spoke to Sales to confirm the orders, he didn't try to upset, he did ask if i needed anything else, i said no and he said this will ship later today.
So far I am 200% happy with them and I would go back again and I will when its time to get something else for a good deal.

I was a little concerned after reading the customer ratings, but the TV arrived as promised, via 2-day FedEx. I did call to verify they received the order, and they assured me it was in-process and be would delivered in a couple days. No shipping or tax, painless transaction. |

| Rating |  5 / 5 | | Comment | Well, I have to admit butterflyphoto did a great job delivering my Canon HF-10. The price was by far the cheapest. The site was not so great but the product arrived 7 days after ordering and in perfect condition. After placing my order I logged onto resellerratings and I read all the bad reviews about butterflyphoto. I called them up the day after I placed my order and after being transferred to 5 different people they told me they did not have my order in their system and that I needed an order number before they could do anything including canceling my order. I waited it out and the next day I get an email saying that my order is being processed. About 4 days after placing the order, I was emailed telling me to call them up because I qualified for some special coupons. They obviously were trying to sell some warranty and wide angle lens. I declined and the salesperson was not pushy and the call took about 30 secs. Im not sure if I needed to call them but I did anyway. The product arrived 3 days later via DHL and required a signature. The product was entirely new and in perfect condition. So overall, I got a perfect product at the cheapest price and it arrived 7 days after placing the order. I just dont think they offer any customer service and I would hate to think about what would happen if I wanted to return something. |

| Rating |  1 / 5 | | Comment | Ordered a Canon SD1100 from these guys by following a link from DPReview. For some strange reason I thought that since DPReview links to Butterfly Photo, it must be a trustworthy online store... NOT.
My order was in 'pending' state until I called customer service myself and inquired about what's going on. They promptly transferred me to a sales person who tried to upsell me for expedited shipping. I flatly refused and was ready to tell them to cancel my order if they were going to pull any other 'accessories sale', but he must have sensed my willingness to walk away, so he promptly ended the conversation, and my camera was shipped the same FedEx 2 day express a short while later.
I consider myself being lucky this time. Will never deal with them again - BuyDig was only $2 more and their reputation is spotless. |

The first guy I talked to offered me $5 for second day Fedex shipping, I declined the expedited shipping and he then transferred me to another rep. She transferred me to another rep who transferred me to another rep who transferred me to another rep.
So the fifth person I spoke with tried to sell me a memory card, I declined. He then tried to sell me an extra battery, I declined. Finally he tried to sell me the expedited shipping for $10... He said that if I did not choose the expedited shipping my item would be sent parcel post. He then said that it would be sent Fedex or Parcel Post and it was up to their discretion. He also said that if I paid for the 2nd day shipping it would be shipped the following day, if not it would be shipped out 3 days later. I was in no hurry so I said free shipping would be fine.
Turns out it was shipped out the next day using Fedex 2nd day shipping at no extra cost. Item looks good and I received it quickly. It looks like they use Fedex 2nd day shipping and just try to milk you for as much money as they can. |

They did not contact me after placing order nor did I need to contact them. Received an email confirmation and tracking number that day. Package was shipped the next day and I received item on Tuesday as expected. I love my tv and will buy from them again. |

Got confirmation/copy of invoice to email right away; no 'call us to confirm' type stuff, nor phone calls. In fact, no other contact at all. Order tracking on their site finally showed that they shipped 2-day fedex on the 24th and just got it about noon Monday Apr 28(site had warned Passover would 'delay' orders). Factory-fresh with North America packaging and literature, all accessories included; $263.90, no shipping nor tax. Shipping box was a little dodgy, camera box was unprotected at bottom of shipping box with air packs piled on top. I think these guys are trying to go legit after some murky beginnings. Otherwise no complaints...what a beauty! Old-school Japan quality. Let's start shooting! |

I placed the order and within 24 hours got a follow-up phone call trying to hassle me into buying additional supplies and accessories for the camera which I did not want. I asked the caller when my order would be delivered and he said the following Monday or Tuesday.
I then called back on Tuesday to be informed that the camera hadn't even been shipped yet, there was nothing they could do to hurry the process, and was treated very disrespectfully by their customer service department, even after I explained to them my situation and that somebody had already told me the camera should have been DELIVERED by this point.
I am very unhappy with their rude customer service, their follow-up phone call sales pitches, and the fact that the order is not going to arrive anywhere close to when they said it was going to arrive.
I would not recommend this vendor to others. |

I have bought a TV from butterflyphoto, the product was ok and it was shipped quite fast. A few weeks later I got an email from my former boss informing me about the crime I committed using the company credit card to by a new TV. WHAT! I moved to other city several months ago, I do not know the company credit cards number and to prove I didn't do anything wrong there was my home address as a billing address on the invoice so butterflyphoto couldn't charge other card. BUT THEY DID. I have no idea what kind of a mess they have at butterflyphoto but it looks like they used information from years ago when I was doing purchasing for my former company. I called them, they fixed everything telling me that it's all my fault and I shouldn't use credit cards that are not mine. WHAT! I DID NOT DO THAT. But it is not the end of the story. It looks like they have now even bigger mess then before. A few months later (today) I found out on my credit card statement that they've just charged me ones again for the same TV. I called them and they said again that it is my fault that they charged the credit card which didn't belong to me so now they are fixing it. I have already paid for that stupid TV. In March. Now we have April. |

I think I was lucky. My Panasonic DMC-FZ18 arrived in a reasonable amount of time. My only complaint was an urgent email I received that said they couldn't ship because I needed to call them first. I called immediately and was hung up on THREE times. I called the next day and all they wanted to do was sell me accesoreys. After I said "no" the camera arrived 4 days later. So that's my story. Call me MR LUCKY I guess. |

| Rating |  5 / 5 | | Comment | I researched the price of a Canon HG 10 high def. video camera on PriceGrabber.com. The best price was from ButterFly Photo. Looking at PriceGrabber's reviews of this merchant, which were very positive, I decided to make the purchase. It was shortly after I finalized the order that I saw the many negative reviews on this website. I started to get concerned for 2 reasons. One, it was a relatively expensive purchase and two, I needed it within the next 10 days as we were leaving on vacation.
I called customer service to express my concern of getting it in time. She told me to call the sales department with my order number and they would make sure it went out on time. I did that and spoke to a salesman named Richard. He was very pleasant and, although he did try to sell me some additional items such as an extra life battery and an extended warranty, he was in no way forceful. When I apologetically declined those purchases he said that there was no need to apologize. When I expressed to him my main concern about getting the camera in time, he told me he would upgrade the shipping to FedEx 2 day, also for free. He said that "this way you will have the camera for a week before your trip so you can play around with it." I sincerely thanked him and the camera arrived in 2 days in a factory sealed box. BTW, some reviewer had mentioned that the company's e-mail had his full credit card number in it. Their confirming e-mail to me had no such thing.
I certainly will consider B.Photo in the future as their prices are very good and most items have free shipping.
Update: 3/28/08- I went to put a review of Butterfly photo on Pricegrabber the other day. That was when I noticed the price of the camera had gone down $26. I called CS and spoke to "Rita", who had helped me initially. She told me they do not do price adjustments but could send me an accesory. We decided on a $50 leather camera bag. Since we were leaving for vacation in a few days, they Fedexed it overnight. Totally free. Their price, and Rita's customer service will cause me to consider BP in the future! Great experience!

Ordered on Friday, March 14th and the camera arrived on Tuesday March 18th via FedEx. No tax or shipping fees and the camera was brand new in the box, complete with a USA/Canada warranty and all UPC codes. I did receive an e-mail after placing my order asking me to call about rebate coupons for this camera. Did not call, just replied to Butterfly Photo that I didn't want any coupons and to ship the order. It was on the way to FedEx late on the 14th. In spite of other negative reviews, this order was trouble free and the camera is exactly as advertised. I'm happy with this buying experience. |

Ordered by phone from Butterfly Photo (owned by DoD marketing) and I asked right up front about confirmation emails upselling etc. The sales person said the only email confirmation would be the one saying the order shipped and that heÂd offer me the accessories and such right up front. We both had a laugh about that because of how candid it was  no trickery or sneaky confirmation emails or Âbackorder delays.
I told him what I wanted, he politely asked if I was interested in a memory card, battery, etc. I declined and that was the end of it. He asked if I wanted a warranty, I declined and that was the end of that. No big deal.
He processed the order without any further selling and I felt no pressure at any time. The total was exactly as advertised, no tax, no shipping.
I was told it would take 7-10 business days to get it, but it showed up 2 days later! I had ordered a Canon SD870 camera and thatÂs exactly what showed up. ItÂs an original Canon, not a knockoff, not a refurb. Packaging was completely retail.
All this makes me wonder we all ordered from the same company or another by the same name. The Butterfly Photo I ordered from is in Jersey City, NJ.
BTW, I got scammed by another company before this order and found this site in the process of discovering that IÂd been scammed. ThatÂs in fact, how I found butterfly photo, although at that time (2/7) the ratings were around 8/10. As I post this the rating is 5.8/10. IÂll never buy again without first checking this site! |

WAIT! Don't place an order with this company!
1) I placed an order on 2/12/07. When I received the email confirmation, my ENTIRE CREDIT CARD NUMBER was included. 2) They do not give you estimated shipping dates. I tried to log into my account - had to have my password reset. I have yet to recieve an email back to reset my password. (It is now 2/18/07.)
3) I was called the day after placing my order to be up-sold (warranty, accessories, etc.) I expressed my concern about the cc# being printed on my receipt and was told that shipment would be upgraded in an effort to make up for this error.
4) I was called the next day by the same rep who didn't remember he had called the day before. He also had no record of our conversation. (Wow. That's comforting.) I was told that my purchase would be shippped that day and that I would receive an email confirmation. Guess what? That didn't happen.
5) 2/18/07 - the order still hasn't shipped. Was given a FedEx tracking number that FedEx had no record of. I asked to cancel the order and was told I had to talk to someone else. That person said that my order was in the warehouse to be picked up today. (Notice, they can't keep their story straight.) Again, I asked to cancel order. Was told that it couldn't be cancelled bc the shipment was ready to be picked up. Ultimately, he said that he would "try" to cancel the order however, they may not be able to catch it before it gets on the truck. I received an email reflecting the order had been canceled.
6) 2/18/07 - after this, received a voice mail that the camera was "on the FedEx truck" and received an email with trcking number.
7) 2/19/07 - FedEx has still not picked up this package from Butterfly. (I confirmed this with FedEx and have the email to prove it!) They have not been notified by Butterfly that the package is ready.
**I was told that these issues were caused by a system conversion. I don't believe this because I have read other reviews from previous months who have had the same problem. Also, what sort of company doesn't test their systems before going live?
6) This company has a bad record with the Better Business Bureau due to complaints. (I wish I had checked with them first!) Apparent long record of poor customer service!
I keep postponing the posting of this review, however, I'd have for others to go through this. So, I'm posting now even though the drama isn't over.

No reason given, no reply from the "reply to" email, or the email of their web page about accounts created before February 4.
Do not buy from these people. I do not yet know if they refunded the money charged to my card. |

Ordered a Canon Powershot camera, paid for expidited delivery. They contacted us after 2 days to upsell batteries for the camera but no mention of any other problems. I reitterated that we had paid for expidited shipping, and was assured that it would go out that day.
The next day (order +3 days) it still had not shipped. On hold for 45+ minutes to find out that supposedly the CC exp date was bad? (How did the preauthorization charge go through then?) I asked why I wasn't called to fix that, and why the guy upselling didn't know there was a problem. Total silence on the other end. I told the CSR to CANCEL THE ORDER, she was terse and stated I would receive a cancelation email and she hung up. I seriously doubt that the expiration date was bad, I am pretty certain it was right and I always double check forms before submitting them.
Shortly thereafter a charge was run against my card for the cost of the camera, my best guess it they wanted to try to force the sale of the camera? I then used their site contact form to again notify them that the order was canceled, and at this point I also noticed that in their order confirmation email all 16 digits of my card are there in plain text for the world to see.
We will NEVER use these morons for anything, the sooner they go out of business, and stay out of business, the better. Thanks for wasting my time, thanks for making me have to cancel the card and get another reissued. |

I waited 2 hours to talk to someone from customer service and ended up hanging up after that. I tried back and tried different divisions of the company and noone picks up. I'm not impressed with the lack of support for customers. I just called to ask a few simple questions about my order. I have to honestly say, I will NEVER order anything from them again, and advise other people to pass on them as well. |

Just to start, I have always had to wait at least 20-30 minutes before anyone would pick up my call to track my order. Their online order tracking system doesn't work. The sales person "guaranteed" that my product would be shipped out on Monday and delivered by Thursday (I paid extra for 2-day FedEx). I never received a tracking number. When I called, they wouldn't provide me one. When I finally got through to someone else, I was told that package hasn't shipped yet. It was supposed to arrive today! I have never experienced such poor customer service. After reading some of the reviews here, I regret buying from these guys. Who knows when my shipment will come and in what condition. Anyone out there thinking about buying from them --> DON'T DO IT! You are risking a load of headaches at the very least. |

Since I am from long Island NY, I went to the shop in person and got the replacement. When I asked the manager how it happened, he didn't have an answer. He said this is an extremely rare issue. Then I told him I have read many reviews about Butterfly's customers faced same problem (which was a lie) he said it happened couple of times. I strongly doubt they are just trying to cheat people. If I would have been a non technical guy they would have got me. Well they were nice to me and sold me a bag and filter that they claim to be half price. I am usually a customer of BH Photo video. But this time thought buying from Butterfly because of tax savings. |

A Brand New Samsung LNT-4065F, a gift to my son for Xmas Died on 12/27..the store refused to exchange it for us, though they had them in stock.I also purchased a Bosch Stove the same day..was promised delivery on 12/21..wife took off from work to accept delivery which NEVER CAME. It was delivered the following day, and when I called them to reduce the 100.00 charge for shipping, they refused. I went to the store in person the following day and Picked up the TV myself, not trusting their delivery service for my sons Gift.they then credited me back half of the delivery charge from the stove delivery...DOD also promised us the stove would be converted from Natural Gas to Propane by the delivery people..the deliveryman almost cried to me saying he told the shipper..DOD..he had no clue how to convert it..and was told "It's EZ" by the jerks at DOD...it took ME 2 hours to read through the instructions and convert it myself..then the LED Readout for the oven controls and temp. died.
Don't even THINK about dealing with this company.I have filed a complaint, the first of Many, with the BBB. I also, at the time the TV was purchased,took out an extended warantee with Repairtech. When I contacted Repairtech to inquire the terms of the contract, and register the TV with them, the Contract # DOD provided me with was INVALID..when I called DOD they gave me a new #..when I tried the reg the NEW # they told me my # referenced a CAMERA Lens, and not a $1,400 Samsung LCD TV..DOD is "Looking Into it"..as will the Div. of consumer affairs of NJ,soon.
