The books at Amazon are normally prices cheaper than any other local retail store, and free shipping is a plus(if you haven't know this by now, you probably were in a cave or living yourself offline for too long) The books arrives as expected, in a good condition. What I normally don't like about Amazon is their packaging. This isn't a first time I brought stuff from Amazon, but I feel sometime they are a bit being cheap when packing people book. I do get that, it's just a book, but sometime what happened is that some of the books are just being shiped inside the box, and when it got thrown around, the cover of the book can get damage easily. Some of the book are packed inside an additional packaging, card board on one side and wrapped in plastic. That should have been a standard shipping package on all book if not bubble wrap instead. |

I was able to order the camera, a 4GB SD card, and a generic spare battery for a total that came to $40 less than the MSRP for the camera. The package shipped four days later and arrived the next day, meeting the 5-7 day time frame for the free shipping. Overall, the selection, prices, communication, and speed were superior. |

This copy of the lens was defective (a common tale, but true); its autofocus motor died after two days. I notified Amazon and they sent out a replacement immediately. They provided a shipping label and instructions about how to return the defective copy. They will reimburse me for the return shipping. I felt they did all they could, and quickly. It's a big, complex merchant system and it's possible that sometimes there are delays or errors, but I feel that Amazon tries very hard to do the right thing by its customers. Recommended. |

| Rating |  5 / 5 | | Comment | The problem that plagues sites with multiple vendors such as Ebay, Half, and Amazon, is the quality of the sellers themselves. I've always found vendors on Amazon.com, whether it be used or new products, to be more credible and trustworthy.
Shipping generally ranges from slow to very quickly. More times than not, I've always received items within 7 business days. I have never received defective or the wrong item from Amazon.com. And more importantly, I've never been conned on Amazon. (Knock on wood)
Nevertheless, Amazon would have never become the retailer monster it is today without some degree of professionalism and credibility. I trust that everytime I order something from Amazon or from a vendor on Amazon, I'll get exactly what I ordered. And like any vendor, use common sense and you'll be alright. |

Most of my orders were free shipping and no tax so there was no hidden cost other than prices listed on the website.
Shipping is fast and usually receive my orders in 2-3 days in CA.
The best thing about Amazon.com is 30day price matching policy. If the price drop within 30 days, they will refund the difference if you call them and request the price matching. Most small companies don't offer such option.

The website did NOT list it as being "temporarily out of stock!" If it had, I most certainly would NOT have ordered the item. I NEVER order items that are out of stock, temporarily or otherwise.
So, I waited patiently for 2 weeks now, without a word from Amazon otherwise, expecting confirmation that my DVD had been shipped.
Then, ON THE FINAL DAY given in the estimated shipping range - and I quote "Shipping estimate: May 7, 2008 - May 15, 2008" - only after I submitted an inquiry on the status of my order, Amazon's "customer service" representative sent me an email that states "still the item is listed as
'Temporarily out of stock'"?! STILL? When it was not even listed as such when I placed my order (not to mention, several days after I placed my order - because I checked on more than one occasion)?
And then, the Amazon rep had the audacity to inform me that the item will not be available until June 28?!
I might expect this type of customer service (or lack thereof) from one of the Amazon Marketplace sellers; but not from Amazon itself. And the poor reporting/updating of their website is absurd. I actually believe they did not update the website until after they received and researched my inquiry. |

Turns out one of the accessories was from an Amazon affiliate and it took a little while before Amazon was able to pack everything together in order to ensure two day shipping, so Amazon in all their greatness next day shipped my package to ensure that I received my order on the day that it was promised with two day shipping. Turns out the camera was defective so I had to ship it back, well I did and they even paid for return shipping and even paid for next day shipping on the return package. That is what I call EXCELLENT customer service and consumer buying experience. |

I never had problems ordering from them, and I saw the CEO on the history channel seems like a man I can trust I will continue shopping from them. |

When I started getting the runaround, I found out the true story on them via ResellerRatings.com. I canceled my order as quick as I could and luckily escaped their clutches. I then ordered the 660 from Amazon.com. Sure I paid a little bit more than 86th was advertising, but I got a nice shiny new unit that I am tickled to deal with. It also sounded like 86th was planning to pull a few accessories from the box on me. I also ordered a few other items from Amazon at the same time and everything came through just fine. Amazon is still a 5 out of 5 in my book. Life is simply too short to deal with the hassles of the crooks that are lurking around out there. Stick with Amazon and they will be good to you. I am one loyal and satisfied customer. |

The other started a three month saga. The ship date was extended time after time all the while it continued to be shown as "In Stock" on the web site. I tried to resolve this on many occasions. Several time I was told that the "In Stock" report on the web was an error and it would take up to a week to resolve. It was never resolved. On two occasions, I was promised that it would be resolved and shipped.
I was told that they would credit my account $10, toward future purchase, for my trouble and I waited again.
I contacted the manufacturer of the item and they assured me that their were plenty even as Amazon kept telling me that it was back ordered from the supplier.
Finally after inquiring to another extension, I received an e-mail from a member of a "special team" that resolves problems. I was told that a 'glitch' in the computer was holding up my order and that I needed to cancel and reorder. I voiced a concern that canceling the order would deny the higher-ups the data on problems. I then received a reply from a different "special team" member offering a $50 refund and that he had canceled my order and entered the item in my shopping cart. I would have to notify them of the order number.
1. Why could they not fix the problem without my intervention? I asked. It was not answered.
2. Why should I trust that they will get me the $50 promised when they cannot do their basic business promptly. Would not a $50 credit in my account be more appropriate or just discount my original order?
3. Why no continuity of contact from the "special team." They left me no way to contact the same person. I only got a link to the form to input and get a response from a different person.
Buy if you wish from this company but, they have lost my business. I worked hard to find a similar price on a GPS I just bought. Amazon is easy as long as there are no problems. |

I asked for a replacement on the customer service web page, and Amazon sent me return shipping label. A day or two later I got notification Email that NY Electronics was out of stock and did not expect more for 6+ weeks, so I asked for a refund. A follow up check 1-2 days later showed a different Amazon retailer currently offering them at the same price, but Amazon would/could not do the replacement that way. The refund got to my credit card in a reasonable time. |

On the fourth day after order date Amazon did not ship them yet, and their system indicated that it would take two more days before the package leaves their warehouse. I called their customer services and inquired about the reason for such a long delay. I was told that the only reason was their policy to delay orders for which free shipping was selected. I congratulated their business model and canceled the whole order. This is not the first time that I had such problems with Amazon.com. |

The package arrived 2 days before scheduled, which is great, but the only thing that sucked was USPS made me pick up the package because it was too big to fit in the mailbox, which if it was shipped with FedEx or UPS they would have left it at my door or re-delivered it the next day. |

After ordering a great deal on a 46 inch LCD Sony XBR5 the oder was flagged due to a wrong expiration date on the card submitted. The fraud department did not contact me nor did Amazon until I tried to track why my order was not arriving after a week as promised. The customer service person I called could not help and did refer to a frad person who emailed a request for the statement to be faxed which I immediately did. They responded it did not have the required information and asked me to fax a statement that had the required info. Since I do not write these statements from Mastercard I called customer service to ask for help to resolve this and received an exact copy of the first e-mail requesting the statement I already faxed them. I cancelled the order. |

I've never had any problems when ordering through Amazon and maybe it's due to me not worrying about the delivery time on the packages. As long as I get what I ordered within a week or two I'm happy.
As a seller
I didn't like they're interface on the seller menu. I would get a message in my email from Amazon telling me that a customer sent me a message. I'd click on their link and to this day I was never able to find the messages that were sent to me. It's a bit frusterating and the price wars are too much to deal with. |

| Rating |  5 / 5 | | Comment | First, I made my purchase from amazon.co.uk, for delivery to the U.S. I occasionally buy CDs from the UK site that are unavailable here, and generally wait til there are a few in my shopping cart before ordering to save on shipping. Normally it takes about a week for orders from the UK to arrive here in the U.S. This time, unfortunately, it took well over 3 weeks, during which time I contacted customer support to inquire about getting a replacement order. They happily shipped another out at absolutely no additional charge.
Well, as it turns out, about 2 days after the replacement order went out, the original one showed up... then a few days later, the replacement showed up too. I asked what I needed to do to return the replacement, and the customer service rep said to just keep it, compliments of Amazon. An order worth around $100 ! THAT is top notch customer service, without a doubt.
I wanted to post this because of the ridiculous level of negative posts about Amazon here. I have been ordering from both the U.S., U.K., and have even ordered from the German and French sites too - over the last 8 or so years. I have never, not once, had a negative experience with Amazon... even the 3rd party merchants are generally reliable too. Just keep this in mind when dealing with Amazon - they process literally millions of transactions a week... there is no way they can be perfect, but if my recent experience is any indication, they will make things right when things go wrong. |

| Rating |  3 / 5 | | Comment | Ordeded a Pentax k20d DSLR and a FA 43mm Limited lens, w/free Amazon Prime trial. Products shipped the same day and arrived in two days as promised. However, both items were simply sliding around in a larger box with NO PADDING at all. If you're spending this much on precision, fragile items, this is simply unacceptable. After some testing they seem mostly okay, though the lens has a bit of a front-focus issue, which can be corrected with the manual AF adjustment option (-5). It's impossible to say if this was caused by the shipping or not..
Update: I contacted customer service, and they gave me the option of $15 or to return the items for a full refund. I'm happy with Amazon's customer service, I just wish they would ship things better packed in the first place. |

The issue might be third party suppliers, but basically the stuff is listed in stock but when you order it the shipping date is about a month to month and a half from when you order it. Then you contact their customer support about it, and then you they send you a long cookie cutter letter from their customer support center in India and then you have to write them back a couple of times and they'll ship the item out a little bit sooner and maybe subtract shipping and handling. I ordered a battery charger on March 5th and it's in the mail scheduled to arrive on March 29th even though it was listed as in stock. Another gripe is that Amazon prevented me from canceling that order before it was even shipped. |

I've been buying from Amazon since January of 2005 and I will continue to support them.
No company is perfect, but Amazon really has one of the best customer services. They never ignore emails and are prompt with it. They always try to be fair and please the customers.
Amazon offers Prime Membership which ships items for free in just two days. I've ordered many with that and there was only once or twice that was just a day late. (Probably UPS's fault). Recently, I ordered a $10 item that was supposed to ship in two days with Prime, but it somehow got backordered. However, they gave me a $5 off next purchase. Moreover, they quickly restocked the item a few days later. They really do care about keeping a customer and sometimes go beyond expectations to please us, or at the very least, be fair, courteous, and professional.
Amazon also has competitive prices, and the fact that Amazon doesn't charge tax for most states is even better. They also offer what they call 'Gold Box' deals, which sometimes offer incredible sales.
They don't charge unless the item actually ships. Great website layout, clean and easy to navigate. Pictures, forums... they got it all.
They are the #1 online store in my book. |

Overall my experience with them from shipping to customer service was wonderful. The only bone I have to pick with them is that their Amazon Warehouse advertised a severely reduces price sixty gigabite PS3, and when I went to purchase it, it was suddenly not in stock but the page said it was in stock ... I called their customer service which was wonderful, but I was sad that they did not apologize or agree to fix the error at least so other people don't experience the same problem. |
