As perhaps one of the worlds most famous cuisines it naturally exists in many forms, but we love this video of native Italians reacting to food that is anything but traditional Italian cooking. We have a recipe that might have them reaching for the cross, but it's worth it!

Sinfully simple pasta that hopefully doesn't get the cross

We're not sure the Italians would agree with this, but we think this one pot pasta is a revelation. This dish is not only so simple it makes you a bit teary eyed, it's also so sinfully delicious that we'll risk the Italians drawing the cross at us (please use the small one!) The best part is that most of us will already have most of the ingredients in our cupboards. If you want a vegan or vegetarian option simply substitute the meat for a lush meaty mushroom and use nutritional yeast instead of parmesan!

One Pot Pasta recipe

Ingredients (4 portions)

  • 400 g linguine pasta
  • 1 can of crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 fennel (finely diced)
  • 350 g chorizo (or other spicy sausage)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 10 dl water
  • Fresh basil
  • Parmesan cheese

How to

  • Add all your ingredients to a spacious pot and bring everything to a boil
  • Stir continuously to make sure it doesn't burn
  • Cook the pasta until it's al dente and most of the liquid has evaporated, about 8-10 minutes
  • Add salt after taste
  • Then serve in your favourite past bowl and top off with fresh basil and a ridiculous amount of parmesan

So get the other cross... and buon appetito!
