Q95T, no EARC and challenges with “banding”

Had selected Samsung's top model to ensure good image and optimal sound with eArc. It then turns out that Samsung does not support EarC as marketed, and that it has been a known problem since 2019 for other models. Very disappointing of a flagship TV. In general, it was a really good picture on the Q95T, but due to Direct Full Array technology, there was visible “banding”/“DSE” that was visible on solid color scenes and when there was panning in the scenes. I am then told that these disruptions are normal for this technology, which caused mine to return the TV, and now I use my 3 year old Samsung TV which does not have these challenges and has a much more monotonous image. Many of the built-in apps are not updated to support the Dolby Atmos audio format on the Samsung operating system Tizen, that is, only Netflix can play Dolby Atmos content in the low version of Atmos. Disney + and Tidal are not updated for Atmos on Samsung television. I ended up buying a Nvidia Shield Pro to be able to hook an Android TV to my Samsung Tv, which is kind of against the very idea of buying a TV for 22,000... This supports that I can play Dolby Atmos in True HD, but it doesn't help when Samsung doesn't support EarC for my Atmos soundbar.

Here you get a 65-inch TV made by Samsung with an eye-catching QLED display. This is a great TV for a great variety of viewing needs, whether you're a sports fan or a movie buff. Even really old movies which are not in HD will look great thanks to the clever image enhancement technology.

  • Aspect ratio: 16:9
  • Smart TV
  • Four HDMI ports
  • Two USB ports
  • Maximum resolution is 4K

Apart from a 4K resolution you also have HDR - High Dynamic Range. HDR is a technology which displays the colours on a deeper spectrum with greater and clearer contrast between the darker and lighter parts of the image. This gives great depth and details to the visuals which gives you the sense of looking out a window rather than watching TV.

Samsung QE65Q95T has a crystal clear resolution that will never cease to impress you. The resolution is 4K Ultra HD, which is four times higher than a normal high-definition TV. Video games and old favourite movies will be elevated and services such as Netflix provides lots of content in 4K, so there's plenty of opportunities to fully utilize the TV's potential.

On the back of the TV you have an optical out. So if you have a soundbar you can just connect it with an optical cable to get really great sound.
