Everything you need to know about the new iPhone 12 models
They have arrived! This years new iPhone models have been revealed. Read everything about all four models and everything else that Apple presented at this nights event.
The corona pandemic has forced Apple to push its traditional time of year event slightly. The iPhone 12-family didn't quite make it into production quite as planned. But now Apple has finally presented them as well as the HomePod Mini. Here's all you need to know.
Iphone 12 Mini/Iphone 12
All iPhones this year will be equipped with 5G. At the same time Apple is bringing back the design we last saw with the iPhone 5, with sharper edges and a flat backside.
On the inside is Apples latest chip, A14 Bionic. According to Apple it is the first chip to be manufactured with 5 nanometre-technology. To speak plainly it entails less components, which means that more can fit into the same space, which both betters the performance and decreases energy consumption. Beyond a faster processor and graphics, the AI-parts have been optimised. Apples Neural Engine is 80% faster than last year and the hardware for machine learning is 70% faster.
To emphasise the power of the A14 Bionic, League of Legends Wild Rift was demonstrated, which will be available for iPhone 12. An obvious way to draw attention away from the tiff with Epic and Fortnite, which were subsequently kicked out of App Store earlier this Autumn.
We still have two cameras. The main difference here is that they now have a significantly better night-mode. Apple has improved the night-mode in all cameras, including the front one.
Even the screen has been improved. Now even the "regular" iPhone 12 gets an Oled-screen and the size stays at 6.1'. The phone itself however has become smaller, thinner and lighter overall, thanks to thinner edges around the screen.
The Macbook-technology Magsafe is resurrected with the iPhone 12. A magnet combined with NFC-communicator and wireless charging. This will make it easy to charge your phone wirelessly, but your phone will also recognise compatible covers and adapt accordingly. What's even better is that Apples Magsafe-charger for iPhone 12 can also charge the Apple Watch so you don't need several separate chargers.
To spare the environment Apple is choosing to forego the standard wire headphones that always come with a new phone, they're expecting you already have plenty at home.
Apple also introduced the iPhone 12 Mini, with the exact same specifications as the regular iPhone 12 and Apple claims that this is the worlds smallest 5G-phone. The screen measures 5.4', but the entire phone still has a smaller surface than the iPhone 6/6s/7/8, even though they had a 4.7' screen.
Both models will be released in five colours, with blue being this years new colour.

Iphone 12 Pro/Iphone 12 Pro max
The Pro-editions of the Iphone 12 comes with the same functions as the iPhone 12; a bit more water resistant, better 5G, Magsafe backside, A14-Chip and improved screen. The Pro model also sports the same sharper edges.
At the same time it does standout a bit, with a steel fram around the phone instead of aluminum. Both phones keep the same measurements as last years models, but get a bit bigger screen thanks to a thinner frame. 5.8' and 6.5' has with the iPhone 12 grown to 6.1' and 6.7'.
Both phones come with an improved camera function, among other the ability to film and edit in the HDR- format Dolby VIsion (with up to 4K resolution in 60 frames per second). Iphone Pro Mac will also get upgraded cameras, with larger sensors and a new type of optic image stabiliser.
Both Pro-models will also come with Lidar, as we saw with the Ipad Pro earlier this year. Beyond a dramatically improved augmented reality application, the technique will aid both autofocus and night-time photography.

HomePod Mini
HomePod was becoming a golden -oldie so naturally it was time for an upgrade. HomePod Mini is a smaller version of the Siri-speaker in a sphere shaped design. The sounds projects 360 degrees. It analyses the music and adjusts accordingly in realtime with the help of Apples special designed chip. If you have two in the the same room they will automatically pair to stereo-mode and in other cases will work as a multi-room speaker.
The speakers are as expected Siri voice activated and blinks in pretty colours when the assistant is activated. If you have an iPhone nearby it is supposed to be super easy to transfer the music from your phone to your HomePod Mini. Siri is a bit limited, but works perfectly fine in cars with CarPlay and the Home-app to easily send routes to the car or control the smart-home. Another smart function is the intercom-function which is supposed to make it easy to communicate with the entire family, both over speaker, watches, Airpods and phones. Music and pods are managed via Apples own apps, even though both Pandora and Amazon are in the works (Spotify was not mentioned). HomePod Mini will begin to be sold in the states the 16th of November for a comfortable 99 dollars. So far there is no news of an international release date.
