3 tips when shopping for a bra

Get the perfect fit for your bra and enjoy all-day comfort with these easy steps:

Choose the right size

a) Measure yourself around your underbust, right where the bra band goes. Make sure the measuring tape goes beneath the underwire and pull it to keep it tight. Your circumference size is closest to your measurement. For example, if your measurement is 35.7 in all around, your size is 36 in, and if it’s 34.1 in, your size is 34 in.

b) Measure the widest part of your chest while keeping the tape measure loose. Subtract your underbust measurement from your bust measurement. This will give you your cup size.

Cup size

  • 4-5 in = A cup
  • 5-6 in = B cup
  • 6-7 in = C cup
  • 7-8 in = D cup

When you're between two cup sizes, always choose the larger.

Think about which type of bra suits you best:

  • For a comfortable fit, look for a triangle bra, sports bra or bra top. They usually have no underwire and sometimes no padding.

  • If you want to lift and shape your bust, go for a push-up bra or a plunge bra. Both work well with very low-cut clothes. And a balconette bra creates a nice neckline.

  • A t-shirt bra has round cups and a smooth exterior, making it invisible under tight clothes.

  • A strapless bra is perfect for sleeveless clothing, with a slightly tighter fit to prevent slipping. And a self-adhesive bra sticks directly to the skin and is perfect for open back dresses.

Check the washing instructions carefully before throwing your bra in the machine. Not all bras can be washed this way, and you don't want to accidentally ruin your favourite. If you'd rather not hand wash, look for bras that can be washed as any other clothes.
