Hammerite Direct To Rust Metal Paint Smooth is specially formulated to perform as a primer, undercoat and topcoat in one. It is a durable, corrosion resistant decorative coating for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, certain plastics and wood. This is a brilliant gloss finish which will retain its sheen for years. Remove dirt, dust and grease with diluted detergent, rinse with clean water and allow to dry. Paint a test patch of Hammerite onto painted surfaces and leave for one hour. If there is no reaction apply Hammerite to surface. If there is a reaction, remove all paint before applying. On bare zinc, aluminium and galvanised surfaces apply a metal primer before applying Hammerite direct to rust paint. Application Method Brush or Spray Recommended Systems Ideal application temperature 8 - 25°C, lightly stir before use. Do not mix tins or mix colours. Brush Do not thin, on previously painted metal in sound condition, one coat should be sufficient. On bare / rusty metal two coats are required. Spray Thin with brush cleaners and thinners at a ratio of 15% thinners to paint. Set spray gun at 25/35psi and use full fan spray at maximum volume. Apply four thin coats, allow one hour between coats. Touch dry in 1 - 2 hours. Cleaning Up After use, remove as much paint as possible from brushes before cleaning with brush cleaner and thinners.
