Three things to consider when buying a knife block

The first thing to consider when buying a knife block is how many knives you want to keep in the knife block. There are smaller and simpler knife block models that can hold two to three knives, but also larger versions that allow you to store up to 12–15 knives. Remember not to try to fit more knives than stated in the specifications, as this may damage the knives and cause them to come into contact with each other.

Since most knife blocks are designed to be placed on the kitchen counter, you should always buy a knife block that you think looks good. Currently there are a lot of models on the market, everything from simple and basic models to real designer knife blocks.

A classic knife block is often made of wood but, as the kitchens have become more modern, you can also find beautiful knife blocks in different colours, as well as in materials such as stainless steel, hard plastic, and aluminium. Which one suits you best is a matter of taste.

The most classic knife blocks are designed in such a way that you push the knives into a block that completely covers and protects the knives.

However, there are also versions of knife blocks where the knives are not covered, as well as horizontal knife blocks that you store in a kitchen drawer. We recommend that you choose a knife block that covers the blades completely, as it not only protects the knives better, but also provides a safer way of storing the knives.
