Three tips for buying a thermo jug
Too large, and the insulated coffee carafe will take up unnecessary space in your kitchen cupboard; too small, and the coffee will run out before you’ve served all your guests. If you often host large parties or organise events such as sports tournaments and club meetings, a pump-action thermal beverage dispenser is a good option. These are larger and more utilitarian versions of insulated carafes which can hold over 5 litres.
Different materials offer different benefits, so weigh these against how you’ll be using the carafe:
- Plastic coffee carafes are easy to lift and pour – ideal if you want a practical carafe. They’re also available in a wide choice of colours.
- Ceramic carafes insulate particularly well and are usually dishwasher safe.
- Stainless steel vacuum carafes are super-durable, which is ideal if you’ll frequently be taking your carafe back and forth to your garden.
