Three tips when buying a weed burner

A gas-powered weed burner has a strong flame that burns off the weeds effectively. A big advantage is that you don’t need an electrical outlet, so you can take it with you anywhere. The disadvantage is that you need to top up the gas regularly.

An electric weed burner uses hot air to kill the weeds. As a result, it doesn’t pose as much of a fire risk as a gas burner. On the other hand, you’ll need a long cord to reach all corners of your garden, making it less flexible.

Make sure your weed burner has features that make it safe and convenient. We recommend the following:

  • Choose a weed burner that switches off automatically when you release the button, so you know that you’re in control of the heat.

  • A built-in stand making it easy to put the burner down when you need to. It’s also good if it has some way of hanging it up for easy storage.

  • A weed burner that lets you adjust the heat helps you save fuel.

As well as being able to effectively combat weeds, it should also be comfortable to use.

  • Choose a burner with several different nozzles for better access to corners and edges. For example, a pointed nozzle improves your reach.

  • Most weed burners are usually between 80 and 100 centimetres. Choose one with a long handle, so you don’t have to walk with your back bent.

  • A gas burner comes with a heavy gas canister. We recommend that you buy a weed burner with a trolley to move the canister around more easily.
