Christmas Gifts: Energy Saving Products Hero Image

Being energy smart is trendier than ever before

Never before has the demand for air fryers, LED lamps, smart thermostats and energi saving appliances been so large! This year's most appreciated gift might just end up being one that will save the receiver a lot of money during the rest of the year, energy smart products really are gifts that just keep on giving!

Keep track of your energy usage

There are lots of products that make it easier for you to control and get an overview of your energy consumption at home. With systems like Google Nest you can control lighting, but also connect lots of smart devices in your home and control them from one place. There are also lots of different electricity meters, both ones that you plug into your electrical outlet, but also more advanced digital versions that help you get a better overview of your energy usage.

Energy-smart lighting

By using a timer or lamp with motion sensor in spaces such as wardrobes, toilets or for outdoor lighting and window lights you can reduce the energy consumption from your lighting. You can also use lamps from Philips Hue, which can be easily controlled via their app. A simple solution that can make a big difference in the long run, especially if you manage to get one on offer during Black Week?

Smart thermostats

Heating is usually the thing that consumes the most electricity in the home. With a smart thermostat you can more easily control your heating and adjust various settings through, for example, apps or digital screens. This could mean, for example, that the heat is on higher when you get home, but kept lower or turned off when no one is there.

Energy-saving LED lamps

LED lights are very energy efficient and require comparatively little energy to give off the same brightness as a regular light bulb, or even an energy-saving light bulb. An LED lamp of 6W corresponds approximately to a standard light bulb of 40W. LED lights are often more expensive, but also have a longer lifespan than a regular light bulb. It usually lasts 30-40 times longer and can shine for around 30,000 hours.

Reduce energy usage with an air fryer

By switching to more energy-efficient alternatives when it comes to household appliances you can save some money. An airfryer is a good example of this, as it consumes significantly less energy than the oven. With most models reaching temperatures of up to 250 degrees and can therefore be used just like an oven. In addition, the heating time is usually shorter (about 1-2 minutes), while an oven often needs at least 10 minutes to reach the right temperature, which of course also consumes more energy.

More energy-smart options

Economical batch cooking with a slow cooker

A slow cooker uses about 150-300 watts compared to a stove which often uses between 6,000-10,000 watts. This means that even if you usually use a slow cooker for a longer time, after 8 hours of use with 200 W you have consumed 1.6 kWh, which a stove with an output of 6,000 W consumes in just 16 minutes. You can use the slow cooker for everything from stews and soups to cooking rice or baking cakes. It also cooks the food faster or can be left on a low heat for a longer time.

Energy-efficient household appliances

Avoid the stand-by thief

Did you know that many products in your home can consume a lot of power even when just in stand-by mode? With a surge protector with a switch you can easily turn off several things completely at once.
